Crimson Informatics

Crimson Informatics provides insurance companies with a turnkey software platform that can underwrite driving insurance based on the Crimson Driving Score. They also provide a data capture device that plugs into a driver’s vehicle and gives the consumer access to a consumer friendly website which shows drivers their driving habits and personalized tips for decreasing risk and improving safety. Combined together, Crimson has created an elegant UBI platform that is statistically more predictive and financially more attractive for insurance companies to implement, and a privacy-sensitive, financially equitable offering for consumers.

 

Denuo, Inc.

Denuo helps its customers realize significant value from intangible digital assets, in particular, the ownership and transferability of legacy IPV4 addresses.  Denuo has created methods to validate ownership of IPV4 address through chain of custody from inception to holder of the asset, a market where these assets can be successfully bought and sold with title transfer, and a repository where title of the assets is maintained and managed.  In addition, Denuo can help demystify for its clients the vast jurisdictional differences and complexities that exist with regard to the legal protections and transferability afforded to these valuable intangible assets.

HireStrategy is a full-service professional staffing firm providing contract, direct hire, and executive search solutions for employers primarily in the Washington DC region.  Its client span a wide range of industries, including technology and media, financial services, professional services, energy & green technology, federal services, education and non-profit organizations.  The firm’s recruiters specialize in providing candidates with personalized career management advice and placement services in the technology, finance & accounting, sales & marketing, recruiting & HR and administrative fields.

KEYW Corporation

KEYW (NASDAQ: KEYW) went public in September 2010.  KEYW is a “total solutions” company that primarily serves government agencies with a focus on the US defense, security, and intelligence, with its primary customers being the Department of Defense and the National Security Agency.  Its primary KEYW’s core capabilities include hardware and software development, system integration, test and evaluation, field support, computer and network operations, information security, and specialized training.

Pixelligent Technologies, LLC

Pixelligent Technologies, LLC is an emerging nanotechnology company developing high performance nanocomposites for mission critical applications in the electronics, industrial, and military markets.  The Company has been pursuing its nanocomposite technology for the last four years during which time they have built a highly experienced team of 10 PhD’s all of whom have expertise in nanotechnology as well as specialized expertise in chemistry, physics, engineering, and material science. Pixelligent has also assembled a technical advisory board of renowned industry veterans who have been senior executives at IBM, Bell Labs, and SEMATECH and have also held senior level positions in the government.

Potomac Mortgage Group, LLC

Potomac Mortgage Group, LLC is a residential mortgage loan originator serving the Washington Metropolitan Area. They are currently licensed to lend in Maryland, Virginia, District of Columbia, Delaware and West Virginia. In addition to residential lending, PMG focuses on Construction Lending which includes, land acquisition, ground up new constructions, as well as renovation financing.

TidalTV

TidalTV is a video advertising, optimization, and yield management solutions provider. Our technology leverages the power of data and mathematics to guarantee delivery of a brand’s message against a very targeted demographic, and enables content creators and publishers to completely monetize audiences across varied demographic segments. Currently, TidalTV has deployed its technology for online video and is working to expand its reach to all video delivery platforms, including television and mobile devices.

Zenetex, LLC

Zenetex specializes in management and technology support services. For more than a decade, Zenetex has been providing IT, engineering, integrated logistics, foreign military sales, program management, training systems, staffing, and contractor field services solutions for a variety of federal government agencies and commercial organizations.

Other Private Investments: Exited

Advertising.com

WWC invested in Advertising.com in 1999 when it was known as Technosurf.  In addition to investing, WWC helped the company find its first institutional investment with NEA and Grotech as lead investors.  The company was a pioneering ad network that grew rapidly.  In 2004, Advertising.com filed for its IPO with Goldman Sachs as lead underwriter.  However, AOL submitted a $485 million cash offer to buy the Company and was successful with the bid.  We have continued our relationship with Advertising.com’s founders, John and Scott Ferber and are investors in their successor companies.

Era Corporation

Era was bought by SRA International in July 2008 and is now a wholly owned SRA subsidiary.  Era equips military and civilian aviation industries with next-generation solutions that improve safety, enhance operations, and increase tactical capabilities.  Era’s primary products include: MSS — enhances aircraft tracking using multilateration (MLAT) and Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B); Squid — improves airport safety by broadcasting the exact position of ground vehicles using an ADS-B transponder; and Vera — offers the next generation in Passive ESM Tracking (PET) technology.  ERA Corporation was sold to SRA International, Inc. (NYSE: SRX) in July 2008.

 

 

Plateau Systems

Plateau is a leading provider of SaaS solutions for developing, managing, rewarding, and optimizing organizational talent to increase workforce productivity and maximize operating performance.  Plateau delivers a best-of-breed talent management solution with deep functionality for learning management, performance management, compensation management and career and succession planning. Plateau Systems was sold for $290 million to Success Factors, Inc. (NASDAQ: SFSF) in July of 2011.
